Record Store Day 2020 feels like the longest tease ever. The event was postponed twice and eventually split into 3 different 'drop' dates: August 29th, September 26th and October 24th. Each drop date will feature dozens of exclusive RSD titles that were intended for release on April 20th, 2020.
Record Store Day 2020 feels like the longest tease ever. The event was postponed twice and eventually split into 3 different 'drop' dates: August 29th, September 26th and October 24th. Each drop date will feature dozens of exclusive RSD titles that were intended for release on April 20th, 2020.
The official product release list was published back in March, which has meant for the first time ever, the world has had 5 months to realize what is coming out. This has prompted fans from far and wide to inquire about their greatest desires. You can check out the official list here. Every participating country also has regional Record Store Day titles, these are not always reflected on this list. The UK RSD list is also worth checking out. They've created separate pages for each drop, this is what they've got for August.
Our success with Record Store Day is all about listening to the fans. All your calls, emails and messages have helped shape our orders for this event. As always, we try to acquire significant quantities of the most in demand titles and while we wish we could get everything we order, it's all about allocations from the distributors.
Our website will feature most of the RSD titles that we receive prior to the event. It will be updated up daily over the next week as product arrives. We believe in transparency, as fans can see our quantities and price beforehand. Don't let that hipster record store tell you they don't know what they are getting. They don't deserve you. Our RSD product pages will update in real-time on event day, so even when you're outside waiting to get in, you'll know exactly what is left.
RSVP to our Facebook event to stay connected to what's happening!
Our doors open at 8am. 4 customers at time. 1 unit per title, per customer. No exceptions. This event is about the fans, not resellers. Face coverings are mandatory. Our queue will be socially distanced. Please respect personal spaces. Our queue started forming at 5am for RSD in 2019.
There will be store wide discounts on vinyl, tees and more!
All fans that are in queue by 7am will be entered into a draw for GIFT CARDS from some of favourite neighbours like Wong's Ice Cream, Soul Chocolate and Gerrard St. Bakery.
All remaining Record Store Day stock will be available to purchase online August 29th starting at 6PM.
We recently chatted with BlogTO about this year's event! Read what we had say here.
Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica.
This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store—the staff, the customers, and the artists - to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day.
