Coldplay - X&Y

Coldplay returned in the summer of 2005 with their third studio album X&Y. The record features the singles "Fix You", "Speed of Sound", "The Hardest Part" and "Talk". X&Y is a big album in every sense of the word. The songs are huge. The music is sometimes quiet and intimate but at other times builds to a massive, layered sound with heavy electronic influences that is new territory for Coldplay. At over 62 minutes long, X&Y is the band’s only studio album that runs for over an hour.

"In mathematics X and Y were always the answers, but in life no one knows," says frontman Chris Martin. "To me the album is about those unanswerable questions, and what you should do about the fact that you can't explain all the unknown variables."

Eco-mix double vinyl edition produced by Parlophone Records in 2024. It was created by recycling the offcuts from other pressings.
