Explore Electronic Sounds, the experimental second solo album from English singer songwriter (and, of course, Beatle) George Harrison. Though primarily a guitarist, Harrison was always looking to break new ground and push his and the Beatles' work into new sonic territory. Intrigued by the sonic and composition potential of the Moog synthesizer he discovered on a 1968 trip to Los Angeles, Harrison composed the two lengthy pieces which comprise the album, making history as one of the first rock musicians to produce an electronic record. Indeed, sounds from the Moog would later turn up on Abbey Road.
Originally released in 1969 on the short-lived Zapple label, a subsidiary of Apple Records intended for experimental offerings, this edition is remastered from the original analogue stereo master tapes and carefully replicates the original cover art; painted by George, the sleeve depicts his Moog IIIP with the four modules from which the sound was synthesized. An error on the original North American pressings, in which the labels were reversed, misidentifying the two pieces, has not been repeated, and this edition is faithful to the originally intended UK pressing.
Heavyweight vinyl produced by Apple Records in 2017. Remastered from the original stereo analog sources. Made in Germany.
