Joan Baez, the landmark self-titled debut album by folk singer Joan Baez was recorded over the course of four days in a ballroom of a hotel in New York in the summer of 1960 and released the same year. At the time of its release, this record was something of a revelation. The folk music revival was beginning to gather steam but there wasn't really any female artists that were adding anything new to the genre. That was until Joan came along displaying a voice from heaven, a soprano so pure, that was beguiling enough to woo even conservative-leaning listeners.
Comprised of 13 traditional folk songs, the album's highlights include "East Virginia", "Silver Dagger", "House Of The Rising Sun", "Fare Thee Well" and "Little Moses". The legendary album has been both inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame, and as of 2015, preserved in the National Recording Registry.
Heavyweight audiophile vinyl produced by Craft Recordings in 2018. Remastered the original stereo tapes by Kevin Gray at Coherent Audio and pressed RTI. Stoughton old-style tip-on outer jacket.
