As part of Rhino's Now Playing series, the Meters' compilation features ten New Orleans funk classics.

They backed Robert Palmer, Dr. John, and Labelle. As the hottest rhythm section of the 1970s, The Meters had a right-tight, lefty-loosey pulse, threading syncopated guitars and organs through the "second line" drum beats of their native New Orleans. These original recordings — many of them favorite sampling sources for hip-hop artists — capture the quartet in their prime. Quite simply, these are some of the funkiest grooves ever committed to vinyl.
