Minnie Riperton's dreamy 1970 solo debut couches the singer's 6-octave vocal range in the lush arrangements of Charles Stepney. Come To My Garden is the perfect balance between romantic melodrama and sensual nuance. Riperton's name first came to prominence with the highly influential Chicago band Rotary Connection, forerunners of the rock 'n' soul crossover. In addition to their own recordings, the band is notable as the backing band for Muddy Waters on his 1968 psychedelic blues album, Electric Mud.
