Arriving several months before Nirvana's Nevermind, the Smashing Pumpkins' 1991 debut album, Gish (also produced by Butch Vig), quickly ignited the alternative revolution that transformed the landscape of '90s rock. While Nirvana was a punk band, the Smashing Pumpkins opted for arena friendly shoegaze: metallic riffs, epic art rock song structures and self-absorbed lyrical confessions. Like Brian May and Jimmy Page, Billy Corgan knew how to layer guitars for maximum effect, whether it's on the pounding, sub-Sabbath rush of lead single "I Am One" or the shimmering, psychedelic dream pop surfaces of "Rhinoceros" or the thunderous "Siva".
Heavyweight double vinyl produced by Virgin Records in 2011. Deluxe mirrored cardboard gatefold sleeve. Remastered by Bob Ludwig. Lacquers cut by Stan Getz at A+R Record Manufacturing Corporation. US Import.
