Arriving with little fanfare in the spring of 1988, Tracy Chapman's eponymous debut album became one of the key records of the decade. The dreams of social justice running through the entire album offset Tracy Chapman from its top-selling contemporaries.

The juxtaposition of contemporary themes and classic production is precisely what makes the album distinctive – it brings the traditions into the present. Highlights include "Fast Car", "Baby Can I Hold You" and "Talkin' Bout A Revolution".

Tracy Chapman and the album's original producer, David Kershenbaum oversaw the production of this special release, including the new analog remaster done by legendary sound engineer Bernie Grundman. The album package will also include an insert of translated lyrics, which accompanied the original international release.

This heavyweight vinyl edition produced by Elektra / Asylum Records in 2025. Remastered by Bernie Grundman at Bernie Grundman Mastering.
